QUICK MEAL

Monday, January 16, 2012

Does your tummy grumble anytime between 3-4pm? Well mine does. At least 4x a week. haha!
Today was one of those days. The moment I got home from the supermarket, my tummy began complaining about how empty it was! It didn't have anything inside but half of a liter, or less, of Thai milk tea.
I opened the fridge and was confronted w/a couple of temptations.
Strawberry marmalade, cheesecake, chocolate pudding and instant pancit canton (my fave!)
but I din't feel like eating any so I looked more and saw a pack of uncooked spaghetti. Then I thought....Aglio e Olio!
Perfect cause I just bought some organic basil leaves & garlic from the market.
So, I gathered my ingredients and made this quick meal in less than 30 minutes :)

Some of you guys were suggesting for me to share my recipes and I don't really think I am worthy of doing so given that I only learned how to cook through watching cooking shows, but let me try sharing one ok! :D

Pasta #1: Aglio e Olio
This prolly is the easiest to make!
(serves 2-3)

What you need:
1. Basil (depends on you how much you wanna use)
2. Spaghetti (250 grams & preferably Angel's hair)
3. 1 garlic bulb (chopped & minced)
4. 2 green chilis (Optional. This is if you like spicy foods!)
5. Parmesan Cheese
6. Olive Oil
7. Salt & Pepper

How:
1. Cook pasta in boiling water. Click this POST to know how.
2. While the pasta is cooking, get a pan and heat it up.
3. Add olive oil (about 3tbsp) and when it's hot, add the garlic and green chilis.
4. Add cooked pasta & basil in the pan and mix well.
5. Put salt & pepper to taste.
6. Transfer it to a bowl/plate and be generous with sprinkling the parmesan cheese on top.

You can also add olives, capers & anchovies. I actually prefer doing so cause it gives more taste. It just happened that I ran out of it! haha

Let me know if you tried this! :)
